The Late Mary Farley

The death occurred on Sunday, the 21st June of Mary Farley, nee Duffy, Aughamore upper, Aughnacliffe, wife of the late Eugene. Mary was born in Errew, Carrigallen, Co. Leitrim to Hugh and Julia Duffy. She was from a family of five. Sisters Tessie, Bridie & Sheila and the late John. Mary immigrated to the USA in her youth where she worked for a number of years before returning home where she met and later married Eugene. They set up home together in Aughamore where they raised their nine children. Mary was always a loving, kind, warm and caring person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Her family, her faith and her warm welcome to her home for her neighbours, friends and extended family were what her life was about. Mary passed away on Sunday morning in the Laurel Lodge after a long illness suffering with Alzheimer’s in the company of the wonderful staff and surrounded by her loving family. Mary was brought back to the home of her son, Ciaran in Aughamore where she reposed. Her wake and funeral were a testament to the high esteem she was held in. Large crowds of people came to Aughamore to pay their respects. Her removal took place on Tuesday afternoon and this was followed by her funeral Mass concelebrated by Fr Seamus McKeon PP, Colmcille; Fr Corkery PP, Dromard and newly ordained Fr Seamus O’Rourke which was filled with music and prayer. She was later laid to rest in the local cemetery with a traditional Irish burial. May her gentle soul rest in peace. Deepest sympathy to her sons John, Gerard, Eugene, Raymond and Ciaran, daughters Mary Reilly, Julie Murphy, Deirdre Fannin, Catherine Macken, sisters Tessie Reilly, Carrigallen; Bridie Silcox, Leeds and Sheila Cassidy, USA; her sons in-law, daughters in-law, Grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
