Mass for the Dead
Thanks very much too all the people who attended in very large numbers this Mass on Friday, 28 November in Abbeylara Church. Also sincere thanks to all the people who helped to prepare, organise and took part in the various parts of the Mass. Thanks very much also to the people who provided and served the refreshments after Holy Mass.
Safeguarding Message from Bishop Francis
During this season of Advent many children will be involved in preparations for Christmas liturgies. It is a special time for them and for their families. Abbeylara Senior Citizens Christmas Party takes place on Sunday, 7 December. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 1pm followed by Christmas Dinner and party, all in Crawfordâ€™s Lounge. The Solemn Novena to Our Blessed Lady takes place in St. Maryâ€™s, Granard on Wednesday, 3 December at 7.30pm and will continue until Wednesday, 17 December. This Novena is a time of reflection, petition, praise and thanksgiving. We invite you to be part of this great gift.
Right to Water
Right to Water public meeting will take place this Thursday night, 4 December in the Community Centre, Granard. This will be the only meeting about the proposed water charges in Co. Longford or South Cavan prior to the National March in Dublin on 10 December. Sinn Fein spokesperson on Communication, Energy and Natural Resources Micheal Colreavy T.D will address the meeting along with Sinn Fein councillors and recent by-election candidates Martin Kenny from Leitrim and Paul Hogan from Westmeath. Everyone is welcome.

25 Card Game
A 25 Card Game takes place every Friday night in the Bay Horse, Granard at 9.30pm. This Friday night we will see all players playing for a Christmas Turkey/Ham of their choice. New players are most welcome. There will also be live music here on Saturday night by Pats Music Mix. Refreshments will be served on the night.

St. Christopherâ€™s Services have opened up a â€˜Pop Up Shopâ€™ in Longford Shopping Centre Car Park. The Christmas Craft shop will be opened until Saturday 20 December and will stock Christmas gifts all made in Longford and it is an ideal way to continue your support for St. Christopherâ€™s which means so much to so many people.

Co. Longford Social Services
Hold their annual collection at Masses on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 December. They deliver meals on wheels in our area and provide transport services to and from hospitals, clinics and St. Josephâ€™s Care Centre. To provide these facilities, it is necessary for them to hold a collection. Please support.
