Field Day

Next Sunday, June 8th, sees the annual Abbeylara Field Day in aid of parish funds. Among the many attractions on the day will be Tractor Pulling with tractors from 60hp to 500hp, Vintage Cars, Bikes and Tractors, Trap and Pony Rides, Wellie Throwing, Dog Show, Funfair, Best Dressed Lady, Midget Car Racing, Ladies and Gents Tug O’ War. Weigh-in for tractor competitions starts at 9.30am, Vintage vehicle displays commence at 12 noon. Music on the field will start at 3pm. For further details contact 086-8855189, or 086-8545378.

Luke Fagan weekend

Arrangements for the Sunday activities for the forthcoming Archbishop Luke Fagan 300th Anniversary Commemorative weekend on June 14th and 15th is as follows - Mullingar Town Band will play in the church grounds prior to the Mass. Car parking in the car park will be organised by stewards. Concelebrants of the Mass will vest in Room 1 of the Parish Centre, and the Procession will start from there. Stewarding will be in place in the church. Servers are asked to be in the Sacristry by 11.00am. All are welcome to attend the Mass, especially the Fagan Gathering. Parishioners are asked to display Papal Flags to welcome the Papal Nuncio, His Excellency The Most Rev Charles Brown, who will be in attendance. Following the Mass there will be refreshments in the Parish Centre between 12.30pm and 1.30pm. A guided tour of Fore Monasteries will take place. All are welcome.

Field Day

Next Saturday, June 7th, sees the Annual Church of Ireland Field Day taking place in the Rectory Field, Pakenhamhall Road, Castlepollard, starting at 2pm. There will be various stalls and attractions, and all are welcome.

Tri an Mhi

Next Saturday, June 7th, sees the holding of the very popular Tri An Mhi triathlon event which takes place in around Fore Village, starting at Lough Lene at 9am for the 1.9km swim. This then followed by the 93km cycle section, and ends with the 21.1km run. Entries for the event have closed, and residents and motorists are asked to be vigilant for the cyclists and runners, as well as the escorting marhsals and support vehicles. The event is classified as a middle distance race, and has grown in popularity over the years.
