Canal group - A meeting will be held in Newmans at 8pm on Friday night next May 13th. We have to make preparations for the arrival of a number of boats from Northern Ireland. They will come from Clondra on June 4th and arrive here from early afternoon onwards and stay here overnight. Next day they will proceed to Balllymahon, Abbeyshrule and Ballinacargy.
Ballymahon Credit Union
Details of the annual Ballymahon &District Credit Union Scholarship for leaving certificate students were recently announced. The scholarship is open to leaving certificate students of the vocational school and Mercy Secondary School in Ballymahon. All students who wish to enter the draw must be a member of the credit union on or before 31st may 2011. All applicants must be commencing a FAS apprenticeship or a full time certificate diploma or degree course at any university, IT or approved third level college. The scholarship will be paid at a rate of 1000 euro per annam for a maximum of three years. Further details are available from the office of Ballymahon & district credit union.

The numbers drawn on Kenagh GAA Lotto in Foigha last Monday night were 3, 19,21, 27. There were two mach three winners Anthony Lennon Garrycastle Athlone and Eileen Tighe Colehill win forty euro each. 7700 euro going on next draw.
Harvest festival
The annual general meeting of Co Longford Harvest Festival was held in the El Paso last Friday night. The meeting was well attended and the following committee was elected for the coming year chairman Paddy Finnegan vice chair John Delaney; secretary Rachel Thomson; assistant secretary Eamon Egan; treasurer Tess Doyle; safety officer Berney Jordan, field officer in charge for day of festival John Fayne, PRO Paddy Egan. The festival will take place on August 28th starting at 12 noon subject to weather conditions. A raffle will take place on a date to be announced in the El Paso prize fund to be arranged at next meeting. The next meeting will be held in Adi Farrells Lanesboro on Monday night May 30th at 9pm. Lanesboro members please note.
OAP party
The Active Age party comes around again and takes place on Monday 23rd May from, 6pm onwards. A good social evening is assured with good food and drink and entertainment.

Winners in saint Dominics centre last Thursday night were Mike and Tom 9 games they share 100 euro, Ita and Willie 9 games they share 100 euro. Table prizes Val and Pat, Bridie and Tony. They won 20 euro each. Raffle Michael Campbell Barney Kenny Dan Cox, Bettty Gerety Sean Parker, Ita Farrell all get ten euro each. Play begins at 9.30pm next week.

Community games
Athletic coaching sessions for the children in the parish will continue each Friday from 5 to 6pm in the GAA pitch. We had a good turn out on Friday last and we thank all the coaches etc for their help. Community games sports day will take place on Sunday May 29th. Details to follow.
