Ballymahon March 4



A very important meeting will be held in Cooney’s Hotel at 7.30pm sharp on Thursday 3rd March 2011. All welcome.


We are delighted to announce that the St Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on the 17th March at 4pm in Ballymahon. A great line up is promised. Contact 086 6000227 or 086 2792153 if you would like to enter a float.


A table quiz will be held in Skellys on Thursday 3rd March at 9.15pm sharp. Tables 40 euro. Great prizes. All proceeds in aid of the St Patrick’s day parade.

Opening times at our lovely newly renovated library are as follows: Monday closed; Tuesday 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 8pm; Wednesday 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5.30pm; Thursday 2pm to 8pm; Friday 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm; Saturday 10am to 2pm.


Next meeting will be on Thursday 3rd March at 8pm in the Dean Egan Resource Centre. All members are requested to attend. Light refreshments will be served. New members always welcome.

The Longford sub squa group wish to thank everyone who contributed to their church gate collection in Ballymahon at the weekend. Your generosity is very much appreciated.


Congratulations to Martin Skelly, Newtowcashel who has now taken over the post of chairman of the Leinster Council. We wish Martin the best of luck during his time as chairman.

Congratulations to Frankie Dolan former player with Ballmahon senior football team whose club St Brigids Kiltoom has qualified for the final of the club championships. St Brigids play Crossmaglen in the club final on St Patrick’s Day in Croke Park.


Hard luck to Ballymahon/ Forgney minor football team who were narrowly beaten by St James in the league on Saturday evening last at Leo Casey Park.


Tang Foroige Club date 1st May 2011. Venue Tang Community Centre. Books are needed in good condition for his sale. These can be left at Foroige on Fridays 7-8pm or can be left with Bernie Conlon any evening. Conact no 085 8114039 or ring Bernie Conlon for any more information about the event.


Ballymahon GAA Dance will be held on Friday March 11th commencing at 9pm. Junior championship medals will be presented on the night. Tickets are available from committee members.


The collection for St Mel’s Cathedral Restoration Fund will take place at all Masses in St Mathews church this coming weekend, special envelopes will be delivered to your house this week.



We wish to extend our sincere sympathy to the Mitchell family Abbeyshrule on the sad death last week of John Mitchell at Mullingar Regional Hospital. John who was always a very popular gentleman, admired and respected by everyone who knew him, is predeceased only a few weeks ago by his brother Andy. May he rest in peace.


Set dancing classes are held every week in Tang Community Centre on Wednesday nights at 8.30pm.
