The newly formed Rustic-Inn Golf Society will hold their first golfing outing in Longford Golf Club on Saturday, 15th February, commencing at 10am. The club welcome new members and membership is only €10. Clothes Collection
Clothes collection from outside St Sinneach’s National School, Colehill, on Friday next, 24th January, at 9.30am. Please leave bags of old used clothing, shoes etc, at the school wall before collection time. Thanking you for your support.
Used Stamps
Please collect used stamps and place them in the box located and marked “Used Stamps” at the rear of the Carrickedmond church and Abbeyshrule church. These stamps will be collected and used by missionary groups who make a small amount of money by selling them to stamp dealers.
Defibrillator Group
Defibrillator training has now re-commenced. People due to do their two year re-certification will be contacted by text in the coming weeks. When contacted please reply by text to confirm you will attend training. A class for new people wishing to learn the skills of CPR and how to use a defibrillator will take place during February 2014. Folk Group
Rehearsals continue in Carrickedmond Church on Wednesday nights from 8pm to 9pm. Next folk mass will take place in Carrickedmond church on Sunday next the 26th January at 10am mass. New members always welcome.
Grinds
Teacher is available to teach Junior Certificate Mathematics and Science, and Leaving Certificate Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Home Economics. Discount rates available for group bookings. Based in Abbeyshrule. Call Joanne on 0860685878.
St Christopher’s Presentation
Presentation of €2000 was made to Brendan Quigley, St Christopher’s by the Carrickedmond men’s and ladies GAA club at the club dinner dance which took place in the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule on Saturday night last. All money was raised at the club annual St Stephens day football charity football game and a Christmas raffle organised by the ladies club. We done to all concerned.
Dinner Dance
Carrickedmond GAA club held a very successful dinner dance in the Rustic-Inn, Abbeyshrule on Saturday night last. A large crowd attended with all enjoying a lovely meal followed by a great lively night of song and dance. Music on the night was supplied by the local Dance On Band. Special guests in attendance on the night included County Longford GAA County Board Development Officer Cyril Connor and Club President Fr Peter Tiernan. Following the meal and speeches the following presentations took place. Intermediate Player of the Year Padraig O’Shea, young junior player of the year Niall O Farrell, Club person of the year Edwina Kelly. Hall of Fame Recipient Teddy McGoey. The ladies GAA club also made a number of presentations on the night following their very successful year on the football front. They included senior player of the year Monica Bannon and young player of the year Rachel O Farrell. Other presentations which took place on the night included a special presentation to club secretary Maraide Mc Donnell for all the work and commitment she gave to the club over the past twelve months. To the 2013 Intermediate management team James Teague, Kevin Farrell and Oliver Rodgers and to the First Aiders Martin Mulvey, Seamus McGuire and Micky Kelly in appreciation for their work with the club over the past twelve months. The ladies club also made presentations to the following team managers, U-12 Eamon Shannon, U-14 Brian Farrell and Deirdre Doherty, U-16/U18 Joe Esler and Eamon Shannon and to the senior ladies team management Michael Doherty, John O Neill and Paul McDonnell. A special presentation was made to the ladies club joint Chairpersons Mary Burns and Rose Mulvey in appreciation for all the work they both put into the club over the past number of years.Well done to all who received presentations.
Get Well Wishes
Extended to Martin Mulvey, Ballintubber who is recovering from a recent illness. Hope Martin makes a quick recovery to good health and is out and about soon.
Pastoral Council
Meeting will take place on Monday night next the 27th January in the Parish House, Carrickedmond at 8pm. All members are asked to attend.
Station
Households in the parish due to host a station in the coming weeks are asked to contact Fr Tiernan to make arrangements for a date for the station.
Sincere sympathy
Extended to Margaret Hogan and family, Keel on the recent death of Margaret’s mother, Mary Keogh, Drumlish, who passed away recently. May she rest in peace.
Ladies AGM
The Carrickedmond ladies club held their AGM in the complex on Sunday evening last. A good crowd attended and the following officers were elected. Joint Chairpersons: Edel Feeney and Laura Kelly. Vice-Chairperson: Maureen Teague. Secretary: Frances Esler. Ass-Sec: Michelle Farrell. Treasurer: James Byrne, Ass-Treasurer: Therese Mc Goey. PRO: Frances Farrell. Children’s Officer: Helen Dempsey. Irish Officers: Gillian Farrell and Tara Esler. County Board Delegates: Joe Esler, Edel Feeney and Laura Kelly. Best of luck to all teams in the club throughout 2014.
