Gardaí are investigating the unauthorised taking of a car from outside a leading global healthcare manufacturer's premises in Longford town.

The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday morning when the vehicle was taken from outside Technimark at the Longford Business and Technology Park on the Ballinalee Road in Templemichael Glebe.

Gardaí confirmed they are investigating the unauthorised taking of the vehicle contrary to Section 112 of the Road Traffic Act 1961.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the incident.

The maximum penalty for the unauthorised taking of a vehicle for a summary conviction in the district court is a fine not exceeding €5,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or both.

A Garda spokesman said, “Gardaí are investigating an incident of alleged unauthorised taking at a business premises in Longford in the early hours of Thursday the 9th of April."
