Boherquill Ramblers

The Ramblers were not deterred by the rainy weather in Mullingar on Sunday January 12th when they met for a walk along the towpath of the Royal Canal. They walked west from the railway station as far as Bellmount Bridge and back again, often with the canal on one side and the unused Mullingar to Athlone railway line on the other. It was unusual to see several groups of swans on the canal, maybe they had moved from the local lakes to shelter from the recent storms. The heavy rain at the end of the walk persuaded the group to head home without the usual refreshments. The Ramblers will walk in Knockdrin on Sunday January 26th. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet at Clonkill Hurling Club pitch at 2pm.
