Hospice Coffee morning
Coffee morning fundraiser for Longford Hospice Homecare takes place this weekend following Mass in St Anne’s Hall, Ballycloghan on Saturday, 4th October and in Legan GAA clubhouse on Sunday, 5th October. Please come along and enjoy home baking and cup of tea coffee and support a very worthy cause.
Inny Anglers
Results of Inny Anglers Lotto draw held in Sloweys for a jackpot of 5,650 euro. Numbers drawn were 7, 9, 23, 27. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners of 40 euro each were Noelle and John (jnr) Slowey and Jimmy Doherty. The club extends deepest sympathy to Martina Whyte on the death of her mother Lily Twaddle and to Liam Butler on the death of his sister, Mairead Keenan. May they rest in peace.
First Friday
This Friday, October 3rd is the First Friday and Holy Communion calls to the sick and housebound will be on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings at the usual times.
GAA
Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday 22nd in Connaughton’s, Rathowen for a jackpot of 10,000 euro. Numbers drawn were 1, 18, 20, 29. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of 50 euro each were Gerry Whyte and D Reilly. This week’s draw took place in Slowey’s, results next week.
ICA
Legan ICA will have an open evening at next months meeting on October 14th at 8pm during which Elsie Moxham will demonstrate crafts such as patchwork, gingham embroidery, chicken scratching and fabric Christmas decorations. Non ICA members are invited. If anybody is interested in any of these crafts and would like to participate in classes please come along on the night or ring 086 3918577 or 087 7637325.
The Country Boy
The Little Theatre Company Athlone will present “The Country Boy” in the Aurora Hall Legan on Friday, 24th October. More details in coming weeks.
Aurora club
This years Aurora club stay over tour is going to Killarney Co Kerry. Departing on Wednesday 15th and returning on Saturday, 18th October. Cost for club members is 186 euro and non members 206 euro, bed breakfast and dinner included in the luxurious Tower Hotel. Places are still available but filling fast, so book with Joe Murphy or Valerie on or before Tuesday, 7th October.
Sympathy
We extend our sincere sympathy to Henry Tynan and his family, Breaney on the sudden and untimely death of his wife, Kathleen.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Joseph Keogh who married Sarah Keogh in St Mary’s Church, Ennybegs on Saturday last. Joseph is youngest son of Bridget and Charlie, Clygeen. The happy couple were joined by family and friends at a reception in Glasson Golf Club Hotel. We wish them many years of health and happiness together.
Foroige club
Ballycloghan Foroige club will resume on Friday, 10th October at 8pm in St Anne’s Hall. All welcome.
Drama meeting
An important meeting of Legan Drama Society will be held in GAA Clubhouse on Tuesday, 7th October at 8pm. A number of matters including this seasons production will be discussed and hopefully, finalised. Members and new members welcome.

Following Mass in Legan on Sunday, 5th October, blessing of graves in new cemetery.
