Hillside Wheelers: Hillside Wheelers Cycling Club will be holding the ‘Tour of the 3 Provinces’ on 22nd June starting at 9am at the community centre in Aughnacliffe with registration from 8am on the day and everyone is welcome. Registration fee is €25. The tour distance is approx. 135km taking in parts of Longford, Leitrim and Cavan along the way. Proceeds will go to the Irish Kidney Association and Leebeen Park.

Colmcille Garden Club: The above are holding their annual Car Boot Sale on Sunday 14th July at Colmcille Community Centre at 11 am. Bookings are now being taken for cars and vans, the cost of entry is €5 which is payable in advance. To book phone 087 9402831.

Youth Prayer Service: A Youth Prayer Service with Eucharistic Adoration focusing on students preparing for exams and the pressures and stress that all young people are facing will be hosted by the parish of Colmcille and led by Fr. Brendan O’Sullivan on Thursday 30th May at 8pm in Colmcille National School. All young people and their families are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Dring Festival: The annual festival at Dring in aid of St. Christopher’s Services will take place on Sunday next, June 2nd. The festival will include plenty of family fun and entertainment with music from Dave and the Blue Tacks and plenty of local talent also. All support will be appreciated for a very worthy cause. We are also looking for good items for a bric a brac sale such as toys, ornaments, electrical goods, radios etc. Any items you wish to donate can be left with Francis at the community centre in Aughnacliffe.

North Longford Angling Club: As part of the Dring festivities the North Longford Angling club are holding a fishing competition in aid of St. Christopher’s Services. Fishing from 11am to 4pm.

Colmcille Ploughing Association: The above will be holding it’s A.G.M. on Thursday 6th June at 10pm in Martagh’s Bar Aughnacliffe. All are welcome to attend and it is hoped a big crowd will turn out. The Annual Colmcille Ploughing and Heritage Day will Take place on 18th August on the lands of Gene and Bernadette Reilly, Smear. There will be plenty of fun on the day including traditional butter making and many more attractions that preserve our heritage. There will be a Tug of War tournament on the day in association with the Gortletteragh Tug of War Association. There will also be a presentation to Smear Tug of War Team on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of their participation in the All Ireland Championships.

Date For Your Diary:
As part of the Gathering the Parishioners of St Thomas’ Church Columbkille are holding a ‘Homecoming’ service in St Thomas’ on Sunday 4th August at 3pm. Followed by afternoon tea in the church grounds. A warm welcome is extended to all our neighbours, friends and members of the wider community. More details nearer the time.

C.A.D.G: Hard luck to Pat Gunshinan who turned the 9 clubs last Sunday evening but walks away with €50. Well done Pat. Matt Mc Gauran, Sonnagh will have his turn to Find the Joker next Sunday evening. The draw will take place at the later time of 9pm, as Matt is leaving his daughter to the airport. Wishing Aoife all the best on her travels to Australia. Don’t forget to buy your ticket this week as the Jackpot is over €800, tickets are available in the usual outlets.  CPCL plan to have the Play Ground finished this week weather permitting, however keep the excitement in check as we need to wait for everything to settle and the green areas to grow and knit together before the official opening. More to follow in the coming weeks.

Colmcille G.F.C. Lotto: There was no winner of the May 20th lotto draw. The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 18 and 28. €20 lucky dip winners were Jack Mulligan, Trevor Cullen, Mossk Burns and Bernie Smith. The jackpot now stands at €7,150. Envelopes are available in all usual outlets.

Blood Transfusion Service: The Blood Transfusion Service will be in Gowna on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th May from 5.30pm to 8pm.
