Food basket

Each week at the Vigil and 11 am Masses there is a basket into which people are asked to donate an item of food (staple nutritional wholefood rather than processed food and ‘treats’ which contribute to toxicity and ill health). The basket is carried in the offertory procession recalling what the early Christians did when people brought gifts of bread, wine, and other items. Some of the bread and wine were used in the celebration of Mass, the rest was distributed to needy people. FUEL is also much needed. People who wish to donate fuel may put a note saying so into an envelope with their contact details and put the envelope into the basket. A member of the pastoral care outreach team will soon be in contact with them. Thank you for your generous and growing response to the baskets. Please continue to drop good whole food items into them each week, say if people make a note to ‘adopt’ a certain Sunday in the month as their Sunday for putting an item into the basket, it would spread the commitment and develop into something wonderful for others among us who are needy. Deliveries are made to our needy people early each week by a member of the Parish Pastoral Care Team in association with Granard Branch of Saint Vincent de Paul, therefore, donations of fresh vegetables and fruit are most welcome.
