Richard and Ann much appreciated the support for their recent coffee morning for Hospice. €730 was lodged with Longford Hospice homecare and will go towards hospice work in Co Longford.

The Longford Branch of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland would like to announce that Our Church Gate Collection will be held on Saturday the 28th and Sunday 29th of September throughout the County. The money raised will greatly contribute to our continued services in the area. These include a home care service, a respite service, a transport service and a day care facility. All of these services are dedicated to respecting the rights of people with Alzhimer’s disease and supporting their careers. Please give generously. A Fundraising night will be held in the Village Inn on October 12th for Carol Galvin C/o Willie & Philomena Forde, Cloonaugh Lower, Drumlish and natives of Kilmahon. Carol, diagnosed with MS eight years ago is confined to a wheelchair and was recently diagnosed with a chronic form of Lyme Disease also.  Lyme Disease treatment is available in Germany is due to cost €40,000.  Carol lives in Athlone with her husband David and 6 year old daughter.  Your help and support of this Fundraiser will be greatly appreciated.

Newtownforbes MSRI Karate

Training continues every Monday evening in the GAA complex from 7pm - 8pm. Since we resumed after the summer break we have had a large number of new students attend classes and we extend a very warm welcome to them. Our club would also like to wish Diarmuid and Ronan the very best of luck in their upcoming gradings on Monday 30th September.
