Seetec Longford is offering a fully funded basic digital skills course aimed at helping people to utilise the online world more effectively.

The Digital Skills for Citizens programme is designed for people with no or limited knowledge of the internet. This course will help participants undertake everyday tasks such as online banking and shopping as well as mastering smart phone apps, social media and email.

The course is run monthly and the next programme from Monday November 19 until Friday November 23. It will be two hours per day starting at 10am or 2pm and will be hosted at Seetec’s Longford centre, 1 Canal View, Townparks, Longford.

Seetec has partnered with Roscommon Integrated Development Company (RIDC) to deliver the Digital Skills for Citizens contract which is funded by the Department of Communication, Climate Action, and Environment (DCCAE), to offer a great opportunity for anyone wanting to learn basic digital skills.

Georgina Murphy, Seetec Operations and Supply Chain Director, said:
“We are delighted to offer this fully funded training to residents in Longford. We sometimes forget that not everyone has had the opportunity to learn the skills to keep up with the digital revolution. This course is designed to help those people who have limited knowledge about using a computer or smart phone but who want to find out more about how it can help their day to day lives.”

Seetec Digital Skills Tutor, Damien Caslin, said: “I can’t wait to meet local people and help them to discover the digital world.

“Often people are afraid of the unknown but we are offering a friendly work space that goes right back to basics, so no one will feel intimidated if they don’t have the skills, that’s what the course is for.”
