Lissette produced hundreds of cards this year featuring Granard and Abbeylara
The engaging and striking Christmas card images created by a talented photographer and they showcase county Longford and the natural hinterland in a truly beautiful manner.
Lissette Carcamo, who moved to Granard from her native Chile in South America, started her journey in photography in March 2023 when she bought her first camera and she has developed her burgeoning passion into a fulfilling and successful career.
Lissette said she got hundreds of cards produced this year featuring Granard and Abbeylara and she sells them for €3 each or two for €5.
"They are all my pictures and my design, I make them every year. It's for the community really, it's not that I'm making money, it's more about sharing my name and sharing the name of Granard around for people who are abroad.
"I'm literally covering the cost and that is what it is all about. I'm not making a huge amount."
Lissette said she has two images from Granard and one from Abbeylara and people have been very complimentary about the cards.
She stated the cards are double sided, they are printed on quality paper and they come with an envelope so they are 'nice for sending off to family and friends anywhere in the world'.
The mother of four said the photographs are landscape images and she has sold about half of them already.
"I wasn't expecting they would go that fast."
"I had a grainy one last year and I decided to keep it because everybody loved it and I just kept one picture from last year.
"They cannot be damaged and they are great quality images."
Lissette said she could not decide which one is her favourite and she loves them all.
The talented photographer stated a significant portion of the proceeds go towards covering costs.
"It is coming from my pocket, there is no sponsor and nobody else, I produce them and put them in a nice place."
Lissette said she thoroughly enjoys sending the cards to her native Chile and hearing about the positivity they are bringing to people.
She recalled how last year a Granard native who is living in Australia bought 10 cards because he had not returned home for several years and he wanted to send something personal and unique from home to his loved ones.
"He sent the cards from Australia to his family in the Granard area."
Lissette also sends a portion to her family and friends in South America.
"It costs me about €10 or €15 to send them to Chile. It's not that cheap but it's important for me to send them to my family and friends, it's a special thing."
Lissette said she loves Christmas in county Longford and she enjoys seeing the snow and frost and the festive scenic landscapes which are in contrast to the summer time period in Chile.
