Disused building in Longford set to be transformed in homes with plans approved

Planning permission has been granted for the construction of 10 apartments in Longford town, but with 23 conditions. 

Kerns Ltd has applied to Longford County Council for the construction of a three-storey residential development consisting of 10 apartments. 

Five one-bedroom apartments and five two-bedroom apartments will be built on Killashee Street and Bog Lane, should the conditions be met. 

There will also be external and public amenity areas, new footpaths, fencing, car and bicycle parking, an electric vehicle charging point, bin storage, and all associated water and foul drainage services made.

A existing disused industrial building will be demolished to allow for the construction of the apartment block. 

One of the 23 conditions outlined states that a Road Safety Audit must be carried out and all recommendations made by the Road Safety Authority must be implemented. 

Another says that the applicant mist provide public lighting for all public areas surrounding the development.

Suggestions for a street/estate name, a house numbering scheme, and associated signage must be submitted to Longford County Council before works begin. 

The decision was made to allow planning permission on November 23.
