Longford father-of-two dies in tragic accident at family business

The man was described locally as a "pure gentleman and a great family man"

The tragic accident occurred around lunchtime today

A Longford father-of-two has sadly lost his life following a tragic accident earlier today. 

The incident is believed to have occurred at his family business. 

Emergency services were called to the location around lunchtime after the man was found critically injured as a result of an incident that occurred while he was working on a vehicle, believed to have been a bus. 

Paramedics were swiftly on the scene however the man was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. 

Locals from the community in question are in shock this evening. The victim, who was in his 40's, was married with 2 young children and was described by locals as "a pure gentleman", "a great family man", and "a lovely businessman who was thought highly of by his employees and customers."

He was also described as a lifelong community man and was very involved in local GAA having played football with his club from underage right through to senior. 

Gardai are continuing to investigate the incident but believe it to have been a tragic accident.
