RIP: HSA launches investigation into tragic Longford workplace fatality

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a workplace accident at a premises in Ballinalee

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has launched an investigation into yesterday's tragic workplace death that occurred in county Longford.

A HSA spokesperson confirmed, "The HSA is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation. As such, no further information is available at this time."

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a workplace accident at a premises in Ballinalee, on Thursday, November 27 at approximately 11:50am.

A man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A Garda spokesperson said, "His body was removed to Mullingar Regional Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

"The Health and Safety Authority has been notified and will conduct its own investigation.

 

"A file will be prepared for the Coroner."
