A full delegation from Longford Fianna Fail’s Comhairle Dáil Ceantair are due in Dublin later this evening (Tuesday) to try and convince party bosses to revisit last month’s stormy selection convention.
They are pushing for members to be allowed vote for their preferred general election candidate after Connie Gerety Quinn was declared under a gender quota ruling.
Following those round of talks, a meeting of the local party is expected to be held on October 19 next to decide the local organisation’s next move.
A possible second, or ‘legitimate’, selection contest has been mooted as one potential solution.
CDC officials are however, staying tight-lipped until the results of tonight’s high-level talks are revealed.
