RIP: 'Broken hearts' and huge sadness across Midlands as man dies in tragic road crash
The man named as the victim of a fatal crash in the Midlands earlier this week once played soccer for Tullamore Town FC.
Dawid 'Davy' Kluz tragically lost his life in a motorbike collision on the junction of the N77 at the junction of the Portlaoise Road and the Ballyroan Road in Abbeyleix at around 7.50pm on Tuesday evening.
Tullamore Town FC paid a heartfelt tribute to their former player. The club said: "We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our former player, Davy. Our heartfelt condolences go out to all his family and friends during this difficult time. Davy will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, both on and off the pitch. May he rest in peace."
Shanette Superior Space, the company Davy worked for in Kilbeggan, also paid tribute: With our broken hearts, we share the news that we've lost one of our valued Shanette colleagues, in a traffic accident.
"Davy Kluz was loved by everyone and truly was part of our family. Starting on the factory floor at 16, he had recently transitioned to the drawing office and was loved by everyone he worked with along the way.

"Davy's bright smile lit up the building, and he’ll be deeply missed and never forgotten.
"Our deepest condolences go out to all who loved Davy, especially his dad Bart and brother Matt, who are also part of our team here at Shanette. Rest in Peace, Davy Kluz."
Other friends and family also paid tribute on RIP.ie. One condolence read: "Deepest condolences to Bart and Kluz family on the sudden passing of David, a true and honest gentleman you could ever meet. I am honoured to have known David. Rest in peace and god bless."
Funeral Arrangements:
Reposing on Friday evening (11/07/25) at Nanner's River View chapel of rest Kilbeggan (N91 HR88) from 4:30 until removal at 6:30 to the Church of St. James` Kilbeggan arriving for funeral prayers at 7:00pm. Requiem Mass Saturday at 11:00am cremation afterwards in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan town (H12RF78)
Gardaí are still appealing for witnesses following the fatal single-vehicle collision in Abbeyleix. They are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users or pedestrians who were in the area between 7pm and 8pm, and have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
