Longford New Writing: The first multimedia submissions for 2026

A rolling call out has been made for people to submit prose / poetry / art / photography

The 'Longford Leader' sent out an open call for the first wave of submissions for the revived 'The 'Longford Leader' sent out an open call for the first wave of submissions for the revived 'Longford New Writing' opportunity. This year, aside from prose and poetry, we opened the window to artists and photographers to get involved for both print and online. 

In this week's paper, we have a short story called 'Amnesia'; beautiful photography by Michael Croghan; as well as talented artworks by Mike Muntner and Trish Smyth. We hope you enjoy these original submissions. 

Submissions are ongoing. We want more prose and poetry to be partnered with art and photography.

Guidelines for Submission:

-Prose should be up to 500 words and poetry up to max 250 (to cater to possible layout requirements).

-Submit up to four artworks / photographs for consideration (can include information about the pieces; 250 words).

-Include a 50-word bio about yourself in third person. 

-Please put your subject line of the email as 'Longford New Writing' (followed by prose / poetry / art / photography) 

-Submit to Éimear Smith at eimear.smith@longfordleader.ie
