Longford District Court
A south Longford motorist has been convicted and fined for careless driving after he collided with a number of vehicles at an area where roadworks were being carried out.
Seamus Kenny of Taghshinny, Ballymahon pleaded guilty at Longford District Court to the offence at Antley, Ballymahon on August 23, 2024.
Sergeant Enda Daly, court presenter, said on the date in question the defendant drove into an area where there was ongoing roadworks and he collided with other cars.

Mr Kenny had no previous convictions.
Solicitor Bríd Mimnagh, defending, said her client had never been before the courts previously and in terms of injuries there was 'nothing significant' due to the collision.
She stated there was road works in the area 'for a long time' and it was a momentary lapse in concentration that led to the collision.

"The car in front of him stopped very suddenly," Ms Mimnagh, who said her client regretted the incident and was apologetic, added.
Judge Owens considered the case and she decided to impose a €500 fine with five months to pay.
