A renowned Longford car dealership is celebrating this week after it was announced as Independent Sales Operation of the Year at the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) awards at Dublin’s Clayton Hotel.

David Hanley of Peter Hanley Motors in Ballymahon said they were delighted with their success and it was an honour to win a national award.

He stated there were 700 people from the motor trade industry in attendance and there was stiff competition in the eight categories.

“It was lovely to win, we are obviously an independent dealership, not a franchise and it was great to be singled out and receive that recognition.

“It gives you a little bit of identity across the country an, for example, if someone in Cork looks up our business online they will know who we are and what we can offer.”

The car delership is a family run business operating for the past 36 years since its inception in 1989.

David said they key thing for SIMI is that they are always trying to raise the standards of the motor trade.

“They are big on people doing the right thing and making the moves for them on the environmental side of things and promoting the hybrid and electric cars,” he added.

The car dealership also expressed their gratitude to customers who have loyally supported their business.

David said they are planning to open a new showroom later this year and that is progressing positively.

“We will continue to offer our customers a good service, my father Peter is almost 74 and he has been working over 40 years in the motor trade and I am with him 20 years now,” he concluded.
