Mostrim Players Drama Group are hosting “The Secret Singer” on Sunday, March 16 at 8pm in The Community Centre, Edgeworthstown.
The evening will see nine masked singers and two dance groups taking the stage on the night.
The drama group is hoping to find a permanent home. Organiser Pauline Flood explained: “This is our annual fundraiser to support our group and to find a space for ourselves to act. In the past we had to bring shows and drama outside of the town as we didn’t have a suitable space to hold these events.”
“The community centre is okay for small events and for drama classes. They have been supportive of us, as has been the Green Building committee. We also had to bring large pantomimes to Ardagh Hall as the stage there could accommodate our actors. In the past The Park House was the place to perform. Those were the good days,” Pauline said.
The Edgeworthstown group hope to find a secure home: “All we need is a small space something like to Bog Lane theatre, to show off our talents, old and young, at present we have to rent out different venues for all of our practises, which is normal, but it all adds up as we are a very active group, holding more than four events annually plus children’s events.”

“The Secret Singer” is similar to the popular TV show The Masked Singer but the Mostrim Players have put their own slant on it. There will be four celebrity judges on the night. Tickets costing €20 can be bought in M & N Giftshop, Mostrim, Quinns Supply Stores and The Goldsmith Inn.
“There will be voting boxes for each singer, and it will be €5 per vote. At the end of the night there will be the Judges award for their favourite performer and an overall trophy for the People’s choice best singer,” Pauline explained.
Host on the night will be Jimmy Jest, who will entertain and put the singers and judges through their paces.
Established in 2013 Mostrim Players have presented plays, one acts, pantos, pageants, historical dramas, and outdoor re-enactments in the last decade. There are more than 60 children in their youth theatre each Saturday.
“We have trained facilitators with several people shadowing. We also have three fully trained directors within our group. It just goes to show how deep the love of drama and entertainment is.
