Eileen Moynihan of Childhood Books has been selected as a finalist for the 2025 Women Changing the World Awards.
The Women Changing the World Awards presented by Oprah Winfrey’s all-time favourite guest, Dr Tererai Trent, celebrate and recognize women achieving outstanding success in areas such as sustainability, humanitarian work, leadership, advocacy, tech, product development, education, health and innovation. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who are leading the way in making the world a better place for us all and inspire other women to answer the call to take action.
Dr. Trent explains, “These exceptional women are here to awaken hearts, give permission to recapture dreams and inspire the women of the world to come together to forge a brighter path for all. The rising of women is the awakening of everybody.”
Eileen commented, “I'm a retired teacher who taught children with special needs. I am a writer of children's books, poetry and short stories. I am very involved locally and internationally with creative people who want to make a better world especially for children.

"I recently co-authored a poetry book with Anila Bukhari called, 'Dream of a Girl ' to encourage young girls to dream big and to discourage child marriage; to encourage letting children/girls be children.
"Locally, I have been an active member of Longford Writers Group. I was chairperson and I am now the treasurer. I am also anactive voluntary member of SCBWI in the Irish Midlands, organizing social meetings. I am also an active member of Indie Authors Ireland.

"My work as I see it is to help others in the local community and internationally, especially women and children. I want to encourage unity through creativity.
"I always loved to encourage children to use their imagination when I was teaching and I think it is important that we all look for the imagination of our inner child.
"I don't think what I do is unique but that it is important to bring out the best in ourselves and others.”

Dr. Trent’s vision for these awards is to empower women everywhere to reclaim their sacred dreams and call in women across the globe to unite and pave the way towards a better future for all.
It can be challenging to create change in the world and Eileen Moynihan gives this advice for others thinking about following their calling to make a difference.
”Reach out to others in your local community and around the world. Network with like-minded people as there is strength in numbers. Believe and persevere in what you want to achieve.”
Eileen Moynihan is proud of her achievements, in the last 12 months she has co-authored a poetry book with, Anila Bukhari called, ‘Dream of a Girl’; helped to edit and publish the book, 'Women Who Lead' that has just been published on Amazon and worked with French students on her 2 books written for the company, Des Nouvelles D'Ailleurs.

She attributes this success to using her writing to help others find their strengths, and to sharing her skills and experience to help others trying to help others too.
Eileen is committed to continuing to make an impact through her work and her vision for the future is to make the world a better place. “There is too much division in the world. We have more in common than differences. I want to get people to discover their creativity and harness it to improve their lives and the lives of others.”
