Longford District Court hears defendant screamed and shouted at Gardaí

A Longford man, who screamed and shouted and behaved aggressively at Longford Garda Station, has had his case put back for a probation report.

Dylan Greene (30) of 87 Springlawn, Longford pleaded guilty to the public order offence on October 5 last shortly after 10am
Sgt Enda Daly said the defendant entered the public office in a confrontational manner.

"He was screaming and shouting and aggressively stomping around throwing his arms in the air," he added.

Sgt Daly said the "very uncooperative" defendant was arrested and later charged.

The court heard Mr Greene received a three and a half year prison sentence, which was suspended for five years in October, 2023, which can now be reactivated.

Solicitor John Quinn said his client was in a 'bad place' at the time and he accepts he was in the wrong and he is very apologetic.

"He was in the station and the Gardaí were carrying out their inquiries and he lost his temper, which he shouldn't have done,” Mr Quinn added.

Judge Bernadette Owens requested a probation report and the case was adjourned until May 6.
