A familiar face has joined the ranks of the Nuacht Cúla4 team this year.
Longford’s own Laura Pakenham can now be spotted in the daily six-minute news bulletin.

The bulletin is complete as Gaeilge and catered specifically to children, the broadcast takes place from Tuesday to Friday at 1:30 pm on Cula4.

Laura is 23 and currently living in Galway. She attended St Fintans National School in Co-Westmeath. She then went on to attend Cnoc Mhuire Granard in Longford. This is where her love for the Irish language first began.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in Education through Irish from Marino Institute of Education and was one of the first in the country to ever do so.

Laura has addressed Leinster House, specifically the members of the Committee of the Irish Language the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community about the hopes for the Irish language.

Laura has also appeared on the Irish dating show on Virgin Media ‘Grá ar an Trá’.

She is a very popular social media figure having amassed a total of 25.9k followers on her TikTok page that promotes speaking as Gaeilge.

Her page is completely through the Irish language and she recently reported live from the general election on TG4.

She can play multiple instruments, seven to be exact both classical and traditional and was an intern with Foghlaim TG4 before joining Nuacht Cúla4.
