A judge has directed that a father of four who was drunk and abusive to Gardaí should be assessed for community service.
Ese Erujaroh (56) of Palace Crescent, Longford, pleaded guilty to the offences at Palace Crescent Ardnacassa on July 27 of this year.

Insp David Jordan, court presenter, said Gardaí exited a house after attending a call in the Palace Crescent area at 9.15pm on Sunday, July 27. He stated Erujaroh approached officers and he was verbally abusive and told them to 'f**k off' several times in front of others.

Insp Jordan stated the defendant was highly intoxicated and officers had no option but to arrest him.
Erujaroh had 29 previous convictions.

The court heard Erujaroh received a three month prison sentence previously for public order offences in October 2023, which was suspended for six months.

Solicitor Bríd Mimnagh, said her client wished to apologise to Gardaí.

"With these previous convictions it's a case of drink is the common denominator," she added.

Ms Mimnagh stated Erujaroh is currently working.

"He accepts his conduct was out of order and it was stupidity on his part," she added.

Judge Owens stated the defendant was "very lucky" the 2023 three month custodial sentence was only suspended for six months or he would be in prison.

She ordered a community service assessment be carried out in lieu of two months imprisonment and the case was adjourned until February 2, 2025.
