Thursday the 7th of November saw the return of camogie to Mercy Secondary School Ballymahon after a long absence, when an after-school training session took place.
Similar sessions will be held in the coming weeks in preparation for a four-school blitz at the end of November, which will involve teams from The Bower Athlone, Moate Community School, Gallen Community School Ferbane and Mercy Secondary School Ballymahon.

This includes experienced players, some of whom have been on County Westmeath underage panels and development squads, and girls who are giving camogie a go for the first time.
Because of other team sport experience, innate athleticism and apparent commitment, it is fair to say these newcomers to camogie are fast learners and show great potential.

As Longford was the only county in Ireland without school camogie participation, this can no longer be said.
