Arrest made at Garda checkpoint in the Midlands over suspected drink driving

Gardaí in the Midlands were conducting checkpoints this weekend and made an arrest over suspected drink driving. 


"Laois Roads Policing Unit arrested the driver of this vehicle who failed a roadside breath test at a Mandatory Intoxicant checkpoint in Portarlington. A prosecution against this driver has commenced. Never Ever Drink & Drive," said the Gardaí.

The arrest comes as Gardaí  have been targeting  "hotspots" for traffic violations.
