'A lovely man and a great guard' -Tributes pour in following the death of Tullamore Garda Jer Glavin

Detective Inspector Jeremiah (Jer) Glavin passed away on October 15.

Tributes have poured in following the death of Midlands Garda Jeremiah (Jer) Glavin.
Jer sadly passed away on Tuesday 15 October in the care of ICU Mater Hospital and surrounded by his loving family.
An Garda Síochána paid tribute to the Detective Inspector on social media, saying: "It is with deep sadness that we remember our dear friend and colleague, Detective Inspector Jeremiah "Jer" Glavin, who passed away yesterday. Jer was not only a remarkable Garda, but also a mentor, leader, and true embodiment of what it means to serve and protect.
"Jer joined us in Tullamore as a Sergeant in 2008 from the Garda College, and it wasn't long before he was promoted, a testament to his dedication, commitment, and ability to inspire those around him. His leadership and kindness touched us all, and his presence will be greatly missed."
They added: "We extend our heartfelt condolences to Irene, and daughters Jennifer, Emma, and Ellie, along with the extended Glavin family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rest in peace, Jer."
People in the community have also reached out with their condolences on Jer's RIP.IE notice.
One person wrote: "We're very saddened to hear of the passing of Jer. Remembering fond memories and good times with Jer and Irene, Jer was a gentleman, a great policeman and colleague."
Another said: "Having worked with Jer at the Garda College, I always found him to be helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and always good company. Gone far too soon and Jer will be missed by all who knew him."
Jer will repose at his home on Thursday 17 October from 4.30pm to 7.30pm with Rosary at 7.30pm. Funeral Mass on Friday at 12 noon in St. Colman's Church, Mucklagh followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
