"In 1955, Jimmy helped secure the first juvenile championship title for the parish, with Colmcille defeating Ballymahon 2-5 to 1-1. He also played in the minor league finals of 1953 and 1957.
"In 1959, Colmcille were crowned county junior champions and Longford also reached the Leinster junior final, where they were narrowly defeated by Dublin. Jimmy was also on trial with the Longford County team during this era.
