Cavan arts industry festival to encourage and nurture emerging talent

Philip Doherty, the writer and director of Redemption of a Rogue will make a presentation at the festival

Exponents of music, media and arts will be heading to Cavan at the end of October for one of the most exciting gatherings of creatives in Ireland.

Award winning singer-songwriter and composer Don Mescall together with Cavan Arts, Cavan Institute, Townhall Arts Centre return for the second year of Drumlinia Music Media Industry Festival one of Ireland’s biggest arts industry festivals.

The Drumlinia industry week initiative aims to encourage and nurture emerging musical artists and creatives, and last year the inaugural event was spread across three days.

This year it's a week-long affair, with the Industry Day, (Thursday, October 24) and Workshop Day (Friday, October 25) as a must for anyone in the music, media, theatre or PR industry or for those aspiring to be there. This year’s speakers and tutors are some of the best known and well connected names on the Irish and International scene.

Drumlinia festival 2024 has two of Ireland’s top artists headlining this year’s event. Irish singing superstar Daniel O'Donnell is set to open proceedings with a show at the landmark on Sunday, October 20.

Frances Black will close out the week with a performance in Townhall Cavan on Sunday, October 27.

The week has a very diverse programme. There will be an interactive musical experience designed for children aged 3-10 years.

This will feature live music, this vibrant workshop will explore Polish and Irish folklore tunes.

The festival will also feature presentations from leaders in their field.

Mary Callery, the Head of International and Executive Producer at Irish television production company ShinAwil, will speak on development within the Irish television industry.

Cavan's own Philip Doherty, the writer and director of Redemption of a Rogue will also make a presentation at the festival.

Actor, Director and Glass Mask Theatre proprietor Rex Ryan trained at The Gaiety School of Acting, Dublin is another speaker during the week

Sharon Vaughn, an award winning songwriter and singer inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame 2019, will also contribute to the festival programme.

The festival programme features discussion, music performances, film screenings and much more.
