Get Carter: Nathan makes welcome return to Longford and the Marquee in Drumlish festival

“Ah one day I’ll get my wish to play The Marquee In Drumlish,” Nathan Carter sang on “If I get an encore” from his hit 2012 album “Wagon Wheel”.

The country star’s wish came true in 2013 when he first headlined the Festival alongside Declan Nerney.

In the last 11 years the hard working singer has built a massive following, drawn by his high energy performances.

Born in Liverpool, Nathan’s love of music began at a very young age. “I grew up being heavily involved in traditional Irish music” he explains, adding that he had competed in the Fleadh Cheoil, even scooping the top prize for traditional singing in 2005.

On the road with his band since 2009, Nathan has forged ahead on the country music scene.

His rise in country music seems unstoppable and he has packed out venues across the country and developed an impressive following from young and old.

Nathan’s success is built on the strong foundations laid by idols like Declan Nerney, Mick Flavin and Mike Denver.

Nathan recently performed a charity concert, entitled 'Locked Up', at Castlerea Prison in July.

Irish Prison Service said the show served as a fundraiser for three good causes in Roscommon and surrounding counties.

These include Roscommon Youth Services, with funds being raised towards the purchase of laptops and/or sports equipment for youths aged between 10 and 24.

Nathan's return to Longford for the Monday night of the 2024 Marquee In Drumlish is a show that you cannot afford to miss.
