Longford Business: Alister Future Technologies receive €300,000 under the EU Just Transition Fund programme

A company who intends to develop a waste plastics to hydrogen plant on the site of the old Atlantic Mills factory has received €300,000 under the EU Just Transition Fund programme.
Alister Future Technologies, a subsidiary of Hydrogen Utopia International, received the allocation to develop a waste plastic disposal facility.

In 2022 Hydrogen Utopia International PLC announced an intention to enter into an agreement with Fisherstown Property Holdings Limited in relation to the proposed lease of a 2.5 acre greenfield site in the 78-acre Logeco Logistics & Energy Park at Fisherstown, Clondra, Longford (pictured below).

A statement to the Leader at that time by Hydrogen Utopia International (HUI) about their plans said: “The Longford site has its own electrical grid connection and an electrical substation and the potential for HUI to utilise the existing wastewater treatment facilities on site, which previously serviced a very large denim manufacturing business.

“Fisherstown Property Holdings (FPH) also has planning permission to build a solar farm, which could potentially provide power for an HUI facility.”
In March of this year the company, in conjunction with another London listed firm, announced they reached an agreement to develop a planned multi-million euro waste-to-hydrogen facility in Clondra.

The firms said they will take advantage of the EU-backed Just Transition Fund. The fund is intended to help initiatives in the midlands following the closure of peat-fired electricity generating stations and the ending of commercial peat extraction.
The hydrogen project will be developed by a company called Eranova Longford, which is owned by Alister Future Technologies, and Powerhouse Energy Group.

Last week Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan, announced that Alister Future Technologies were one of 15 sustainability-focused projects in the Midlands to receive grants under the EU Just Transition Fund (EU JTF) programme, co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union.
