There was huge turnout for the Cian Gray All Vehicle Memorial Run as participants braved the elements to participate in this worthy charity drive on Sunday, August 4.

Cian from Ballyduffy, Moyne on the Longford / Leitrim border passed away in 2021 after a long battle with illness: “We’re trying to spread the word about the work of Longford Hospice Homecare and raise funds.

“Longford Hospice Homecare helped Cian and his family so much during his illness,” Clare Scott, one of the volunteers who arranged the event, told the Leader.

Departing from Dromard GAA Grounds this year the run travelled through Ballinamuck, into Drumlish, over to Colmcille, into Arva and back to Dromard.

Organised in memory of Cian Gray the run incorporates entries from tractors, trucks, cars and motorbikes. Registration started at Dromard GAA Grounds from 10am and the run departed at 1pm.

Clare says the day went very well: “It has always been a great day's fun whether you are in a vehicle or not. We had music and refreshments as the day went on and the big raffle with over 50 prizes.”

Up to this outing the event has raised almost €50,000 over the last two years for Longford Hospice Homecare.
