Arva Agricultural Show Society prepares for their 65th show later this month on Sunday, July 28 in the Showfield adjacent to Arva town.

The cattle section includes classes in pedigrees and commercial animals. The Lakeland Dairies All-Ireland Dairy Bred Beef will be back this year after a strong introduction to the show last year. There will be many opportunities for young people to demonstrate their stock-handling skills with Herefords, Friesians, and a qualifier for the ISA Junior Young Stockperson Championship.

Arva Show has reintroduced the poultry section this year, due to it's popularity. There are also classes for sheep and goats of any breed, with 'The Sheep School' doing demonstrations in this area. This makes a great attraction for curious minds.
In the Equine section, there are qualifiers to Kildysart, Clarecastle, Ballinasloe and Mohill Shows, along with many other classes for ponies and horses.

Home Crafts are particularly strong in this region, and there is a great display at the show every year. This year the All Ireland Home Preserves Championship Final and All Ireland Junior Craft Championship Final will be held at the show. It is a fantastic display of creativity from around the country.

All dogs are welcome at the show, and can participate in the Dog Show from 12pm. Entries will be taken on the day, at only €3 per class or €5 for 2 entries.

Entertainment on the day will include free children’s entertainment and magic shows, a selection of trade stands, craft stalls, and live music, with Johnny Brady closing off the event at the Show Dance that night in the Breffni Arms hotel at 10pm.

Last chance to enter classes on arvashow.com or by contacting the Secretary at 089 242 9893. Entries close this Saturday, July 20.
