Road closures across county Longford to facilitate works and major events

Longford County Council has advised that there are a number of road closures this week to facilitate works and the staging of major events.

 

The R-198 Battery Road Longford, from its junction with St Alban’s to its junction with the Lisbrack Road, will be closed on Thursday, July 4 from 7pm - 6am.

A detour is available via the N4 from the Red Cow Roundabout to the N63 at Leo Casey Roundabout and via N63 to Longford Town. This road closure is required to facilitate Pavement Reconstruction Works on the R198.

Meanwhile, to facilitate the Lisryan Community Family Fun Run 2024, on Saturday, July 13, from 11am-1pm, the R-395 at Lisryan, gates of Lisryan Community Park, Lisryan Crossroads, junction of Coolamber/Ballaghgowla and Froghan will be closed.

In North Longford, the townlands of Oghil and Bawn will see a road closure. 

The L-5044 in townlands of Oghil & Bawn will be closed from Monday,  July 1 - Friday, July 5 from 8am-5pm.

This road closure is required to facilitate planned work under the restoration improvement works of the roads programme 2024.

Another road closure will take place in order to facilitate the Longford Agricultural Show on Sunday next, July 7.

The L-1040 & L-5060 between Kiernan's Forge to Esker Cross will be closed between 8.30am and 6pm.

On completion of the Agricultural show, roads may open when safe to allow access, which could be in advance of advertised time.

Diversions will be in place.
