All systems go Longford's second Camlin Keys Piano Festival

Camlin Keys Piano Festival are delighted to share the news that under the Creative Ireland Community Open Call through Longford County Council they were successful for a second year in their application to fund a Piano Festival.
Building on the success of the 2023 event, this year Camlin Keys will again provide an occasion for pianists of all ages and abilities to play, perform and compete in a friendly and supportive atmosphere, with evaluation and feedback from RIAM composer, teacher and examiner, Tamara Niekludow.

Joanna Pearman said, “This year, we are introducing classical, bowed string classes of a similar format to the piano, also for the Saturday morning. Thank you to St John’s National School, Battery Road for hosting our music classes.”
As seen last year, Longford has a wealth of pianists, piano teachers and students - producing the finest musicians of all genres of music.

Since the piano is not always the most mobile of instruments, not everybody gets the opportunity to share their skills and hard work. Camlin Keys is providing the platform for performance through competitions, recitals, masterclasses and introductory sessions for all ages.
There will be workshops, recreational activities and maybe a big piano jam.

Camlin Keys Piano Festival will be over the weekend of July 6 with a choral treat on Friday night as the Athlone Acapella choir will be joined by Moate Sing4Fun choir joining with Longford Ukrainian choir in St John’s Church. Lenny Chen, the amazing young pianist from Boyle will return for an afternoon family concert on Saturday and we will also have small ensemble concerts and recitals over the course of the weekend.
Ms Pearman remarked, “Again, this year, we would welcome input and ideas from the wider piano community, teachers, and musicians, to ensure our provision meets expectations, please email camlinkeyspianofestival @gmail.com if you would like to engage with Camlin Keys.

“Of course, it is not only musicians Camlin Keys wants to attract, but an audience too. We would welcome support and input into the development of this project from local enterprises. Perhaps with a venue option, hosting an event or sponsorship of prizes and classes. All ideas are welcome, to what we hope will become a feature of the Irish musical calendar.
