Longford soprano Emer Barry was on the scene to greet Donald Trump at Shannon Airport recently, as he travelled to Ireland to visit his latest acquisition; Clare’s Doonbeg Golf Resort.
Performing as part of Irish Classical Crossover group Affinití, Emer, along with violinist Mary McCague and harpist Aisling Ennis, were invited to play at the steps of Trump’s jet.
Later on in the day, the trio played at a private recital for the Trump family in the VIP President’s Suite at Shannon Airport, before performing at the Golf Resort for leading business and golf VIPs including the Trump family.
A month previously, the group were invited to promote Shannon’s daily year-round Aer Lingus service to New York. Emer, Mary and Aisling performed to a distinguished invited audience, including Donald Trump Jr, at Steinway Hall in New York for the event.
Soprano Emer joked, “Donald Trump Jr must have liked what he heard - he convinced his father to buy Doonbeg and he came to our Shannon gig today”.
