Local Gardaí commended for recent publication

A Longford judge has extended his congratulations to local Gardaí on the publication of Celebrating the Centenary of An Garda Síochána in Longford.

At a sitting Longford Circuit Court, Judge Keenan Johnson commended local Gardaí for their work on the publication after recently acquiring a copy. “I want to congratulate Superintendent Seamus Boyle and An Garda Síochána on the publication of the book,” he said. The project is supported by Longford County Council, with funding from the Decade of Centenaries Programme. Additional financial assistance was provided by the Longford Branch of the Garda Síochána Retired Members Association, Longford Courts Service and St Raphael’s and St Paul’s Garda Credit Unions.

Proceeds from sales of the book, which costs €15 and is available in outlets throughout the county, will go to County Longford Hospice Homecare. “It is wonderful that people who are overworked already are working so hard to help such a worthy charity,” said Judge Johnson.
