Longford-Westmeath by-election hopeful James Morgan will officially launch his campaign at Esquires Coffee House in Longford town tomorrow evening (Monday, May 12).
Mr Morgan, who is the only Longford based candidate, is entering the nine-strong field as an Independent.
The eight other candidates in the race to claim the seat left vacant by the death of Fine Gael TD Nicky McFadden are ; Gabrielle McFadden (FG), Aengus O’Rourke (FF), Paul Hogan (SF), Denis Leonard (Lab), Brian Fagan (Ind), Donal Jackson (Ind), John McNamara (Ind) and Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran (Ind).
The Longford businessman and chartered accountant says tomorrow’s launch is a chance for people to engage and more importantly drum up support ahead of polling day on May 23.
“It is a mammoth task with so little time left,†he said. “But it’s a chance to get as many volunteers and people together and for people to get behind their Longford candidate.â€
The launch gets underway from 6.30pm and it is open to all.
