Drumlish's Centra store
The Longford store used the SEAI grant to install new refrigeration and freezer systems, the results of which is the energy equivalent of powering 29 Irish houses per year.
These new energy efficient upgrades, combined with previous works in store, amount to 123,618 KWH of energy per year, a 48% overall carbon reduction for the store.
Vinny Kiernan, owner of Centra Drumlish said, “We were delighted to receive a grant from SEAI this year as part of their ‘Building Sustainable Communities’ initiative.
“We aim to help the environment wherever we can, and this grant has allowed us to install new sustainable refrigeration and freezer systems.
“We look forward to continuing to work towards a more sustainable way of doing business, and we are very appreciative to SEAI for helping us to do that.”
Centra Drumlish is one of 25 stores nationwide who took part in the “Building Sustainable Communities” initiative this year.
Tanya Osborne, CEG (Community Energy Grants) Programme Executive at SEAI said, “Creating a more sustainable society is at the core of everything we do at SEAI, and we firmly believe in the importance of working together to enact change.
"‘Building Sustainable Communities’ closely aligns with our values and demonstrates the power of businesses and communities coming together. We are very grateful to Centra Drumlish for collaborating with us once again on this important initiative.”
