It's a bumper weekend of entertainment at Longford Backstage Theatre. Music and theatre will take centre stage on Friday and Saturday.

First up Michael Ryan and Sean Kelleher of the brilliant HubCap Theatre Company present their hilarious original comedy The Parish this Friday (September 8).

Set in an everyday rural community, The Parish is an energetic comedy featuring two actors who bring to life characters that can be found in every town and village in the country.

Performed with minimal set and supported by a rich soundscape, The Parish deals with themes of conflict and treachery, but ultimately celebrates the bonds of friendship and community that overcome all adversity.

The following night, (Saturday September 9), Route 66 Big Band make their triumphant return to Backstage after an unforgettable reception during their previous visit.

Route 66 Big Band present mesmerising melodies from a sensational 14-piece ensemble, led by both a charismatic male and female vocalist. They transport the audience through time from the swinging '40s to the contemporary hits of today.

Route 66 Big Band flawlessly recreates the masterpieces of music legends like Glenn Miller, Van Morrison, Joe Dolan, Adele, Ella Fitzgerald, and Tina Turner, among many others.

Their sensational performances have left audiences raving, with comments like “I can’t wait for this band to come back, they were truly fantastic, great show” and “It was a great show, great music, class”.
