Longford District Court: Defendant had four suspended sentences

A man who scammed money with a false online advert has been given an additional two months to pay back the injured party before Judge Bernadette Owens concludes the case against him. Eoin Duggan (24) of 44 Grian Ard, Ardnacasa, Longford was charged with offences under the Theft and Fraud Act.

The charges stem from incidents on July 1, 2021. The injured parties responded to an advertisement for a graphics card for sale. They lodged €240 and €140 into the account of Eoin Duggan , however they never received the items.

Solicitor Brid Mimnagh said her client had saved up the compensation, however he recently had to move house and used the compensation for his deposit. Judge Owens said she would adjourn the matter to October 3, to afford the defendant further time, but marked it peremptory against Mr Duggan.
