The musical equivalent of the All Ireland final, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, is just over a week away and three young Longford men are looking forward to it for a particular reason.
The Irish music festival run by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann runs from Sunday, August 6, to Monday, August 14. Once again this year Mullingar see musicians from across the globe flock to the Midlands..
Mullingar hosted the highly successful Fleadh 2022, the Homecoming, welcoming in the region of 500,000 visitors to the founding town of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.
Longford band, Ríl Óg, who won the coveted title as Longford's Next Superstars will play a gig at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023.
Ríl Óg band members hail from Lanesboro and Edgeworthstown and consist of Dylan Hanly (Accordion), Tomás Mulligan (Banjo & Fiddle) and Setanta Flood (Bodhrán & Guitar).
The young band are delighted to secure this fantastic opportunity to play alongside the renowned band “The Kilkennys” and the gig takes place in the Arts Centre, Mullingar on Tuesday, 8th August at 20:30.
