Something for all the family at  Longford Show

Established in 1902 the Longford Agricultural show is one of the oldest gatherings of its type in the country. This year it boasts a very busy schedule.

The time table of events commences at 8:30am when the Craft Marquee will open for entries. Judging in the Marquee commences at 10.30am sharp. Exhibits to be removed between 4.30pm and 5pm only.

No prize money will be paid if exhibits are removed prematurely. Late entries cannot be accepted and there are no entries on Show Day.

A number of Show features commence at 10:00am, when all other exhibits will be in the Show Grounds. The 10:00am start will see the judging of horses in Ring Two, while at 11:00am the judging of horses at Ring One starts, at 11:00am sees the judging of ponies at Two Rings and the show jumping horses and ponies.

All set for Longford Agricultural Show this Sunday

Anticipation is building for this year's Longford Agricultural Show as the annual event is making the final adjustments to ensure there is a packed programme.

At 11:30am the dog entries, with judging from 1.00pm.

At 12:00pm the cattle judging takes place with sheep judging at 12:30pm, judging in all dog classes is at 1:00pm, and goat judging at 1:30pm.

From 2:00pm the childrens' entertainment, which includes an entertainer, treasure hunt, colouring competition, games, and animals, including Henry and Hamish and Reptile Zoo.

The kids dance competition is a fun competition from Macra na Feirme. All children are free.

The committee comprise of Chairperson Charlie Murphy; Secretary Bernie Whyte; Craft Secretary Cynthia Geelan; Craft Secretary Olive Quinn; Cattle Secretary John Whitney; Tradestand Organiser Anne Devlin; Entertainment Officer Marissa Hebron and the Patron is the Most Rev Colm O' Reilly, Bishop Emeritus Ardagh & Clonmacnois.
