Next week’s annual general meeting of Longford Town Council is to hear calls for the deputy mayor’s seat to remain vacant.

Next week’s annual general meeting of Longford Town Council is to hear calls for the deputy mayor’s seat to remain vacant.

Cllr Mae Sexton is expected to raise the issue and ask for the deputy chairperson’s annual salary of €9,000 be set aside for local projects.

“The gesture of putting this money to some specific good and useful purpose may serve as a lasting legacy for the final term of Longford Town Council,” said Cllr Sexton this week.
