Longford volunteers join the search for a body in Carrick-on-Shannon

A call out late last week for more divers and volunteers to help search the River Shannon around Carrick-on-Shannon for a missing male was answered with a large number of people arriving to help.

Search and Rescue divers from Longford, Roscommon, Lough Ree, Athlone, Mullingar, Offaly, Ballina, Newport, Drogheda, Dublin and Moy clubs took part over the weekend and early this week.

Sadly the search continues for a young man who entered the water at the County Bridge just before midnight on Christmas Day, 2022.

Searches have been ongoing since December 26.

Anyone with drones or other technology to help in the search is asked to get involved by contacting local Gardai or the Civil Defence.
