A motorist 'acting suspiciously' in the Midlands has been arrested for multiple offences.

Gardai were alerted to a suspicious vehicle and discovered the car had no insurance, tax or NCT. 

Mountrath Gardaí were on patrol recently when they observed occupants of a vehicle acting suspiciously. The driver of vehicle attempted to evade Gardaí but the vehicle was subsequently stopped.

The driver was found to be a learner driver with no insurance, tax or NCT.

Gardai stated that the driver was arrested and charged at Portlaoise Garda Station for dangerous driving and driving without insurance. The driver was also issued with five fixed charge penalty notices for non display of insurance, tax, NCT, learner plates and for not being accompanied by a fully licensed driver.

The vehicle was seized and the driver is expected to appear in court at a later date, gardai added.
