DRAMA: It is hoped to start a drama group in the parish in the coming weeks with a view to staging a play in St Sinneachs hall Carrickedmond in the coming months.

DRAMA: It is hoped to start a drama group in the parish in the coming weeks with a view to staging a play in St Sinneachs hall Carrickedmond in the coming months.

Anybody interested in joining the drama group should make contact with George Farrar at 087-2584238.

George has succeeded in getting a producer to produce a play and is now hoping that people interested in acting, stage management make-up and been part of a drama committee will make contact with him at the above number.


Please remember to keep used stamps and place them in the box located and marked "Used Stamps" at the rear of the Carrickedmond church. These stamps will be collected and used by missionary groups who make a small amount of money by selling them to stamp dealers.


Get Well Wishes are extended to Thomas Keenan Ratharney who is recovering from an illness at present. Hopefully Thomas makes a quick recovery back to good health.


All interested are reminded that badminton club activities continue in St Sinneachs hall Carrickedmond on the following nights and times.

Wednesday nights from 8pm to 11pm for adults and on Friday evenings from 7.30pm to 8.30pm for kids and from 8.30pm to 10pm for juniors.

A number of people from the parish are now due their two year re-certification course in BLS and on the use of an AED. All concerned will be notified by post during the coming weeks. A re-certification class will take place in the parish hall on Monday night the 31st January commencing at 7pm. It is hoped that all contacted re the above will attend this important class.

It is hoped to run a new BLS/AED class in St Sinneachs hall Carrickedmond on Monday night the 21st March. GAA Lotto:

The Carrickedmond GAA lotto jackpot is now worth over €17000. The lotto draw takes place in the GAA complex on Tuesday nights and each envelope with four numbers costs €2. Envelops are available from any committee member or can be purchased in the local MFS shop in Carrickedmond.


To Eugene Quaine Tashinney who was re-elected unopposed Chairman of Longford county minor board at the minor convention in Longford on Friday night last.


A very successful Carrickedmond GAA dinner dance took place in the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule on Saturday night last. The highlight of the night was the presentation of championship medals to the Carrickedmond Intermediate team "2010 Intermediate champions". The following award winners were also announced on the night. Intermediate player of the year Kevin Moran, Junior player of the year Barry O Farrell and Club person of the year Paul Mc Guire. Congratulations to Kevin Barry and Paul and to everyone associated with the club on a very successful 2010.


A meeting of the pastoral council group will take place in the parish hall on this Thursday night the 20th January at 8pm.


Sincere Sympathy is extended to Margaret Quigley Ratharney on the recent death of her sister-in-law Noot Quinn who passed away recently. May she rest in peace.
